FIRE PREVENTION GUIDELINES

  1. The following “Fire / Safety Prevention Guidelines” will assist the community in a safer environment.
  • Safety Tips Candles
  • When you leave a room or go to bed, put out all candles
  • Do not trust a candle holder to contain a lit candle
  • Do not put candles near things that can burn: books, newspapers, tablecloths, clothing, wall hangings, pictures, curtains. Window sills, in particular, are not good places for lit candles.
  • When you buy a candle holder, look for several features: it should be hard to tip over, made from a material that will not burn and should be able to catch melted wax. If you have a decorative holder that is flammable, keep a close eye on candles in it and put them out before the flame gets near the holder.
  • Make sure that kids and pets cannot get near candles.
  • If a candle’s wick gets too long, it can produce a dangerously large flame.
  • Do not buy candles that have flammable things embedded in them.
  • Do not leave children alone in rooms with candles.
  • Keep candles, matches and lighters in a high cabinet that children cannot see or reach.
  • When the power goes out, you can light candles but do not carry them around. Have a flashlight if you need to walk around and find supplies, your cell phone or other things.
  • Do not use a candle to check the pilot light on a stove, or to examine kerosene heaters or lanterns.
  • Extension Cords: Do’s and Don’ts
  • If an extension cord is not marked for outdoor use, use it indoors only. The SANS label will tell you if it is OK for outdoors.
  • Inspect the cord before you use it. Look for areas that are cracked or frayed. If you find any, dispose of the cord.
  • The appliance or tool that you are using the cord with will have a wattage rating on it. Match this up with your extension cord. Do not use a cord that has a lower rating.
  • Do not run extension cords through doorways, or through holes in ceilings, walls or floors.
  • Make sure the appliance or tool is off before you plug it into the cord.
  • Make sure the plug is fully inserted in the outlet.
  • Do not remove, bend or modify any of the metal parts of the cord’s plug.
  • Do not plug a three-prong plug into a two-hole cord.
  • You should not have to force a plug into an outlet.
  • If the plug is too loose in the outlet, the outlet maybe too old and needs to be replaced.
  • Some cords are polarized; one hole on the plug is larger than the other. Match up the outlet and the cord.
  • During use:
  • Keep away from water.
  • Do not use it when it is wet.
  • Keep it away from children and pets.
  • Do not plug one extension cord into another.
  • Do not overheat the cord. Uncoil it, and do not cover it with anything.
  • Do not drive over the cord. Do not drag it on lay anything on it.
  • Do not walk on it.
  • After use:
  • Remove it from an outlet by pulling on the plug, not the cord.
  • Store it indoors.
  • Unplug it when not in use.
  • Fire Works
  • All are reminded that it is prohibited to set off or burn fireworks in residential / municipal areas.
  • Permission to set off fireworks must be obtained by the Namibian Police in advance. If permission is granted, extreme care must be taken when handling or setting off fireworks.

  • I have an brilliant idea and I need to communicate it verbal.
The only absolutely solution to the issue of vigorous fire burning down our houses especially in locations.
Please let the team see me. Because I once communicated it to some council member but they want it to be done in a political method.

    Thank you very much.
