Meet the TeamChief Executive Officer
As prescribed by the Local Authorities Act (Act 23, 1992 section 27 (1) (a) (2)), The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the carrying out of the decisions of the local authority council and for the administration of the affairs of the local authority council. The Chief Executive Officer is the principal administrative officer responsible to the local authority for employing staff and negotiating their terms of employment. The CEO is the highest-ranking official in the municipality, responsible for overseeing all administrative functions, implementing council policies, and ensuring efficient service delivery. The CEO provides strategic leadership and direction to the entire municipal administration.

The Executive Assistant to the CEO is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of professional and executive administrative tasks designed to support the CEO and enhance the efficiency of the office.
Key Responsibilities:- Office Management: Overseeing the office environment to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Information Management: Gathering, storing, adapting, and distributing information within the municipality.
- Administrative Support: Planning, organizing, and controlling various administrative functions.
- Aesthetics Committee: Overseeing initiatives to enhance the visual appeal and environment of the municipality.
- Risk and Audit Committee: Supporting risk management and audit processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Event Management and Filming in Swakopmund: Coordinating events and managing film-related activities in the municipality.
Public Relations Officer
The Public Relations Officer operates under the Office of the CEO and is responsible for managing the municipality's public image, social media platforms, communication strategies and media relations, among other tasks. The PRO ensures transparent and effective communication between the municipality, residents, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Media Relations: Coordinating press releases, press conferences, and media inquiries.
- Public Communication: Developing communication strategies and managing social media accounts, the municipal website, newsletters, and other channels.
- Crisis Communication: Disseminating accurate and timely information during crises or emergencies.
- Community Engagement: Facilitating engagement with the community through public meetings, forums, and interactive platforms.

Office of the MayorThe Mayor of Swakopmund is at the centre of the system of governance. The Mayor takes collective decisions in consultation with Councillors, the Chief Executive Officer, departmental heads, citizens, staff, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities of the Mayor:- Initiate and formulate planning and development policies.
- Promote the creation of employment.
- Monitor policy implementation.
