Her Worship Councillor Suamma Kautondokwa is the Mayor of Swakopmund and a dedicated community leader with a strong academic and professional background in Education, Development, and Local Government Management, obtained through studies at South West Gauteng College and the University of South Africa (UNISA). Her academic foundation informs her practical, people-centred approach to governance and community development. She has served as a Local Authority Councillor at the Municipality of Swakopmund since 2020, where she actively represents community interests, advocates for inclusive development, and promotes participatory governance. Her work is focused on strengthening community engagement, addressing social challenges, and ensuring that local government remains accessible, transparent, and responsive. Mayor Kautondokwa is a mother, humanitarian, and social activist, and the Founder of the SMK Foundation, through which she champions poverty eradication and provides support to orphans and vulnerable children. She previously served as the Food Bank Street Committee Coordinator in Swakopmund, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, contributing to improved food security for vulnerable households. Her leadership experience extends to political and civic engagement, having held various leadership roles within the SWAPO Party Youth League, including Mobilisation and Information Secretary and Mondesa Branch Secretary. These roles strengthened her experience in mobilisation, communication, and grassroots leadership.
